LED grow light for growing plants indoors

The technology in grow lights is changing as even HID ballasts are even going digital and LED grow lights are gaining a lot more attention from the indoor grower. Why is this ?  because of the recent advancements with LED lighting they are now brighter, longer lasting and a lot cheaper than they used to be.

LED lighting allows you to place the light much   closer to your canopy as they do not produce any where near as much heat off the lamp as HID grow lighting. Now dont think you can get away with out using a fan and filter  as heat is still produced and could affect your end results if sufficient extraction is not in place

As with hid lighting there are different colours in LED lighting that should be used at the right stages of your plants growth cycle. more blue should be used  when your plants are in their growth cycle and red, orange in the flowering cycle.

Early LED grow lights used hundreds of fractional-watt LEDs and these were often not bright enough or efficient enough to even begin to be thought as effective replacements for HID lights.  Now the newer  LED grow lights on the market use high-brightness multiple-watt LEDs that are increasing the power consumption resulting in increased effectiveness of the technology   leading to similar growing results to HID lights.

LED still cost more to buy than HID lighting but do cost that bit less when it comes to the running of the light. With that bit of money saving over the life time of the light makes them a sound choice that is why more and more people are giving LED lighting a chance to bring down running costs without  losing quality or yields, using LED grow lights could be what we all end up using to grow indoors as the technology gets even better.

LEDs for me look pretty good when they are on because of all the nice brightly coloured lights but most of the people i have spoken to that have used them never said  that they were getting the same quality or similar yields to that of HID grow lights. I think that LED grow still need to be improved on a bit before i would stop using  my trusty HID lighting.

Choosing Adequate Hydroponics Grow Lights

Hydroponics, for those of you that may not know, is a system that allows gardeners to grow plants by using water as a substitute for soil. This new system is great for a number of reasons: increased plant yield, reduced growing time, etc. The only thing that is lacking up until this point is an adequate grow light. The options are numerous and it is up to every plant grower to decide which technology is most suitable for his specific needs. Most grow light systems that are used in regular gardens can also be used in hydroponics gardens. Hydroponics as a new type of farming is becoming more and more popular amongst gardeners.

With the help of grow lights gardeners can now use virtually any space to set up a hydroponics garden. Because new grow light technologies have emerged it is now also more profitable to have a hydroponics garden because with LED grow lights users can now save a lot of power. There are numerous other options apart from the LED grow light system, such as incandescent grow lights, fluorescent grow light systems, HID (high intensity discharge) grow light systems, and numerous other. Each of these systems has a category of users it is best suitable for. Fluorescent grow light systems, for example, are most suitable for cuttings and seeds, while incandescent lamps are utilized by people that take hydroponics as a hobby because of the low costs and decent results.

For farmers which view hydroponics as a business the regular way to go would be HID (high intensity discharge) grow lights. These grow lights can vary in power from 100 watts to 1000 watts, depending on the needs of a specific garden. From an environmental point of view, and retaining the most growth for your dollar, the best possible option when it comes to choosing a grow light system for your hydroponics garden, regardless if you view it as a hobby or as a business, is LED grow lights. This system is unmatched neither in performances nor in operation costs by any of its competitors that are available today. Although they do prove to have higher acquisition costs than other technologies, LED grow light systems are immensely cheaper to operate when compared to the competition.

With a lifespan of over 100,000 hours of operating hours on average, LED grow light systems last over 50 times more than other grow light systems. Also, those passionate about taking care of the environment should know that LED grow light systems as opposed to, fluorescent grow lights for example, do not contain mercury or any other harmful chemicals and are completely safe to dispose of. With significantly lower power consumption and a greater light emission efficiency, LED grow light systems have proven to be the most efficient grow light systems for the hydroponics sector.

Veggies and Herbs That Grow in Hydroponic Tents

A survey conducted last year, found that a large number of people in the UK and Ireland are looking to adapt to a style of cooking where food can be sourced directly from the kitchen. In another 30 years, their idea of a green space extends beyond their garden, with the kitchen and garden merging as one. Thanks to the hydroponic technology, this dream isnt unattainable. In fact, of late, the sale of hydroponic grow tents has seen a positive trend.

We arent new to the hydroponics technology; the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, as described by Greek historians Diodorus and Callisthenes describe a garden that modern scientists typify as vertical gardening.

For the uninitiated, the concept of hydroponics is the process of growing plants without the need for soil. Thus, instead of placing plants on a bed of soil, they are placed on a bed of nutrients and supported by water. Because vegetables are grown indoors with the help of an indoor light source, seasonal vegetables including the exotic ones can be grown all year round.

Besides helping gourmet restaurants with a year round supply of fancy ingredients, hydroponics also aims to serves a larger purpose; of helping countries battling a food crisis. For instance, the Child Development Support Corporation, which has a 250 square foot hydroponic garden, where vegetables are grown to be given away for their food pantry program. The technique is known to be very helping in drought conditions to not only feed humans but cattle and other livestock. Forage grown through the hydroponic system is known to be ready for harvesting in as little as a week to 10 days. In places where fertile land seems to be scarce, the technique is known to be used effectively by farmers.

There are several products that help people grow their vegetables through the hydroponic system. From grow lights to growing media products like Rockwool, coir etc. and plant nutrition products.

If youve heard about the technique, but dont quite know how to go about growing vegetables in your kitchen, you can always sign up for the several courses on the internet. Most of them are free and held by people looking to share their knowledge and love for hydroponics.

If the technique were to gain mainstream popularity, growing food would no longer involve going to the local super market. It would just be a case of looking for the freshest of produce from the kitchen! if you need buy led grow lights, please visit: ledgrowlight-hydro.com

Hydroponics Gardening With LED Grow Lights

It’s a well known fact that hydroponics gardening requires grow lights. Choosing a powerful grow lamp to light the plants properly in order for photosynthesis to occur and for the plants to grow and thrive is the key to success. Lighting is crucial to every kind of indoor gardening situation, because without adequate light, the plants will be stunted and not grow to their full potential. LED grow lights can be used to good effect in an indoor plant growing situation.

LED refers to light-emitting diode. A diode has two terminals, and it allows current to flow in one direction and not in another. It is a simple semiconductor.

Photons are units of light. Atoms contain photons, and it is the photons that produce light. They produce light when electrons move around and change positions. Electrical current, in an LED lamp, flows across the diode, and when this happens, it causes a change in the movement of the electrons. The positively-charged electrons will move in the opposite direction from the negatively-charged electrons. A semiconductor is made more conductive to electrical flow when free electrons are added to the conductor material, creating negatively charged areas, or when they are taken away, leaving gaps in the chain, and positively charged areas. Electrical current flows over these areas, and it causes the electrons to move. The side effect of all this movement is the production of light.

The color of the light emitted by these types of grow lamps is based on the size of the gap in the electron chain. The gap size affects the frequency of the photon, and this is why it has an impact on the color of the light produced. Low-frequency light produced by an LED light is used to light remote controls for one of many common examples, because it it infrared light.

If you are growing plants indoors, then the color of the light that your grow light emits is quite vital to your plants’ health. Young plants at the seedling stage require blue light in order to grow properly. Mature plants, such as a flowering or fruiting plants, require red and orange light in order to get the plants to produce the flowers and fruit that you want. All of this is dependent on the light that you use with your plants. LED lamps come in a wide variety of colors, so it is easy to get the exact grow lamps you need in order to get the results you want from your indoor plants.

The advantage to using LED lights is that they do not get hot as they are in operation, and they also do not have a filament, which you find in incandescent light bulbs, so they often have a longer productive life because of this.

Top Considerations for the Best Aquarium Lighting Systems

Proper aquarium lighting is fundamental for a number of reasons. Light allows you to observe and admire fish in their natural habitat. In addition, with the right type of lighting, the inhabitants in the aquarium are able to survive. Besides fish, there are other organisms and plants, especially photosynthetic ones, which derive energy from this light. Therefore, fish tank lights are not only the main source of light, they are the only source. Right from the beginning, you should know that light is so important in all aquarium systems. The behavior of fish in an ecosystem depends on the amount of light filtering through the water.

If this is your first time to keep fish in an aquarium, then it is important for you to know the different options available. It does not matter how simple or sophisticated your aquarium system is. There are several categories of aquarium lighting namely normal, compact and high intensity. The first two use fluorescent lights while the third uses metal halide lights. More recently, LED aquarium lights have joined the foray of fish tank lights. LED aquarium lights are considered to be the top choice for aquariums where you intend to keep saltwater and freshwater fish. Most hobbyists will tell you of the versatility of these lights.

In aquarium lighting, you have a wide choice of bulbs and fixtures. Take for instance, the compact fluorescent lights. They have a higher output than their standard compatriots. In the place of single tubes, they utilize several of them in one fixture. Hence, a single compact fluorescent is able to do the task handled by two or more standard fluorescent bulbs. In the end you find that it helps you utilize the available lighting space. When it comes to maintenance, there is no difference between these fish tank lights and the standard types. Other benefits include low emission of heat and low maintenance cost. There is also a wide variety to choose from.

Going to the metal halide lights, these are also known as HID (high intensity discharge) aquarium lighting fixtures. They comprise of glass bulbs interconnected through wires. When electric charge passes through the glass tubes, they produce light by virtue of the material in them. These materials include metal salts and gases which are ideal for light production. Halide lights for reef aquarium lighting. This is mainly because of the types of fish found in such aquariums require high intensity light.

When choosing aquarium lighting fixtures, you need to consider the needs of the fish you are putting in there as well as your own. A fish tank lamp is more than a source of light. It brings out the overall beauty of the aquarium besides sustaining the life therein. Always ensure that you use the right lighting systems for your aquarium.
